TAKUURA

Dining set with a sign of the nature.

The TAKUURA dining set is a combination of a natural motif and a functional design. The plates can be used both to serve food and to tilt the bowl and soup plate. The bottom of the plates and bowls is decorated with an imprint of bark infested with bark beetles. A creature that, despite the pest's label, leaves beautiful traces of its life.

ŘÍPovka

Porcelain baking form in the shape of famous Czech hill named Říp.

20 cm

The legend is saying that the forefather of the Czech Republic has come to this hill and because the most beautiful he decided to stay there. I took this piece of history and, according to the photos, I carefully modelled it and cast it into porcelain. Everyone who has my baking form can enjoy the view of the Ríp hill.

The baking form is made of hand-cast porcelain. The production process consists in pouring the liquid porcelain into the negative shaped form. It fits a cake for two people.

The Medusa

Technical glass melted on a torch.

40 cm

This glass object is the result of my efforts to find out what the largest object I can create myself.

It is a technical glass shaped using a special oxygen burner. My effort was to express the lightness of the sea creature in graceful motion.

The
SelfLove

5 cm mirrors with porcelain cover

Porcelain and gold evoke luxury. If vanity allows and the person looks not only at herself/himself but also at the mirror then finds that a number is written on the back. During this project, I was looking for how much water is needed to produce the porcelain part of the object.

The resulting number is written on the back on each piece.

Because every product around us has a background.

1. Stress-less gotchi

Phone mobile app

Concept of the project

Principles of a game

The concept is a combination of persuasive design with the principle of the tamagotchi game. The application should serve as a reflection of the mental health of the user mediated by the pet. The pet has "the same needs" as the user has. Those needs are created according to academic papers describing work-related stress and tested with user evaluation. The main idea is that the users will meet their needs at the same time as the needs of their pet, therefore the application simplifies mental health care.

Problem that need to be solved

Work-related stress

The main problem this project is trying to solve is work-related stress which, if neglected, may result in chronic stress or burnout. One of the main causes of this problem is overwork and the inability to separate personal life from work. This smartphone app helps alleviate the effects of stress and helps improve the user's lifestyle.

Mobil-based app

Stress manegement

Target group: office workers; 20-35 y

Usign a PET simplifies mental healt self care. The PET is visualisation of user mental state and gives the user the feeling that she/he is taking care of someone else while she/he taking care of her/himself. The app looks like a regular pet care app, but needs are based on user needs (balance between work, relax, activity and sleep). The principle is based on the fact that all activities are done by the user together with the pet.

2. HOCUS

Desktop-based app

Concept of the project

Our team: Linnea Öhlund, Rabii Allawerdi, Sára Kordová, Klara Säljedal, Johan Lindh

The main goal is to remind the user (office workers) to take breaks based on the amount of work that the users have set in the application (work/break ratio). When the lock-screen engages with the user, choices will be offered to snooze or pick between different alternatives of breaks. Perhaps, the user wants to take a walk - this will then be registered and shown in charts and overtime progression, for example, what kind of breaks the user takes.

Problem that need to be solved

Sedentary lifestyle vs work efficiency

Information workers face the problem of both breaking their workflow by increasing the amount of time they take breaks and potential stigmatization from co-workers or superiors since taking more breaks is not always seen as positive. Even if a person has a healthy lifestyle in general, working out regularly and eating healthy, does not guarantee that the effects of prolonged sedentary behaviour will decrease and therefore it is very important to try and break sedentary behaviour (Lou et al., 2018).

What We Did

Computer-based app

The balance between work and breaks

Target group: office workers

HOCUS gives user premade programs based on academic research. Every program includes an appropriate long break after work period (and information why and how is this program helpful). Beginning of the break freezes users screen and give her/him chance to postpone break, have a break and cancel.
Those options are based on several user testing with participants and experts.
